If no one has then you can say “call” or “I call” to match the last bet and put the same number of chips into the pot. If you have a high poker hand such as a straight or a flush you should continue to raise your bets to try and scare other players out of their hands. This is a great way to increase your chances of winning the hand and can also help you get more information about other players’ hands.
A full house contains three matching cards of one rank and two matching cards of another rank. A flush contains any five consecutive cards of the same suit, such as hearts or diamonds. A straight flush is five cards that are consecutive in rank, but from more than one suit. Three of a kind is three cards of the same rank, and two pairs are made up of two matching cards of different ranks and an unmatched third card. The highest pair wins ties, and the highest card breaks ties for any other type of hand.
Many professional poker players will tell you to only ever play the best possible hands. However, this is a very conservative strategy and not suitable for casual games. If you are playing to make money then this is surely the best way to go, but if you’re just playing for fun it might be better to play a bit looser and risk bluffing more often.
